Yoga Etiquette
Welcome to Inner Wisdom. We are delighted to have you as our guest. We have the following suggestions to ensure that every student has a positive and peaceful experience at our studio. •Arrive to class on time preferably 5-10min early. Please check in and take care of payment arrangements before class. If it is your first class, you will need a few extra minutes to complete a release form.. Your 1st class is free, and we have a student rate available for those with Student ID. •If you have your own mat please bring it, Inner Wisdom has a limited number of loaner mats. Quality mats are available for purchase. •Please do not wear heavy perfume or cologne. •Please remove your shoes at the entrance to the yoga room. Wear loose comfortable clothing with bare feet. •Please silence or leave cell phones at home or in your car. •Practice on an empty stomach. Try not to eat for at least 2-3 hours before class. Have a light snack if necessary. •Inform the instructor before class if you have any injuries, diseases, recent surgeries, low back or disc problems. •Inform the instructor if you are pregnant or attempting to become pregnant. •Occasionally your instructor may light incense, candles, or use an aromatherapy type spray. Do not hesitate to inform us of any allergies or sensitivities. •Keep voices low when socializing in the main store and refrain from visiting in the hallway as the adjacent rooms are used for massage and may have sessions in progress. While practicing… •Do not strain, clench the teeth or jaw, hunch the shoulders, or hold the breath, unless instructed. Occasional spurts of aggressive, imbalanced practice are dangerous. Yoga is not competitive. More important than your level of flexibility is your sensitivity to the pose. Use your breath to work through tight spots. •Regular practice is necessary to receive the full benefits of yoga. •During the menstrual cycle, inversions are generally not recommended. However, listen and respect your body and make a decision that is appropriate for you. After Practice… •Drink plenty of water. •When you return to your car, remember not everyone else is in their “Yoga Zone”. Drive Carefully Namaste ![]() |
